We believe that aside from us giving you some tips about how to make a windmill, stopping there would make the website incomplete.
That is why we move on to out venture of building a Solar Water Heater.
We began by studying everything written online and off on solar water heaters. The more we read, the more we got frustrated.
Buying one was out of the question, since they retail for $ 2,000 and up.
After even more research and reading theDIY Hot Water guide, we were finally ready to start building.
We basicly did it in 3 steps:
- Building a wooden box covered with glas
- Installing copper water pipes inside the box
- Hooking the outlets to connect to a storage tank.
Thanks to the guide, we were able to do all of the really complicated sounding stuff pretty quickly.

Aside from our tips on how to make a windmill, we also wanted to provide you with a quick overview on how to make solar panels.
Solar enery as well as wind energy is a very cost effective source to make your own power, if you do it yourself.
There are different options available, that you can use at home.
- A solar cooker f.e. is a small box, which is a cooking utensil using no power to cook food. It has the ability to boil, roast and bake. A great little device we can only recommend. However, it takes some more time to cook, than the conventional methods. But in order to save some power, it might well be worth looking into it.
- Another great source of saving money aside from building your own windmill and/or solar panel is a solar home lighting system. It converts solar energy into electrical energy for your house. It’s done through solar cells that are charged with solar energy. It stores solar enegey in those cells, which enables you to use the power at night. It can be easily installed and reduces your power bill substantially.
- Solar heating systems installed in your house are another option, which is not as expensive as you may think. You should be abele to get a return on your investment within 3-4 years, eliminating your power bill completely.
We at – how to make a windmill – strongly recommend for you to check into at least some of those power saving devices. It’s well worth your time and money.
