As we have stated before already, it is not very hard to build wind turbines and a lot of folks out there undertake that challenge to save some energy costs.

Remember, depending on how much energy you would like to generate, your blades might be up to 8 feet in diameter (4 ft blades).

All in all we can say, that it takes a little work to build a windmill, but it’s not really complicated and it can be done fairly inexpensive.

Once you are up and running, the dropping electric bills make up the time, you had to spend.

If you know how to make a windmill and you have done it once or twice, you might even be considering it as a second income source, as building wind turbines becomes a fast growing occupation, while good and cheap technicians are hard to find.

That is why we move on to out venture of building a Solar Water Heater.

We began by studying everything written online and off on solar water heaters. The more we read, the more we got frustrated.

Buying one was out of the question, since they retail for $ 2,000 and up.

After even more research and reading theDIY Hot Water guide, we were finally ready to start building.

We basicly did it in 3 steps:

1. Building a wooden box covered with glas
2. Installing copper water pipes inside the box
3. Hooking the outlets to connect to a storage tank.

Before thinking closer about how to make a windmill, we’ll give you a quick overview on the conditions, that should be met before starting to make a windmill at home:

• Your property should be at least 1 acre. Wind turbine solutions need some space
• The average wind speed in your area should be around 11 miles per hour. If your location has little wind flow, the wind energy system can not work. Talk to a professional before taking on the task on building a homemade windmill. 
• You have to be able to get water from an external source. Or you can use your well water, if you have one. But if you need to draw water from outside a wind power system is the best solution.
• If you need uninterrupted power for your house and want to combat the power outages the pollution-free wind power system is the solutions for you. 

A wind power system needs to have a tower and five blades to churn out wind energy. The hight of the wind tower depends on where your home is located. A higher tower is necessary, if  you are in low-wind zone; the windier your location, the shorter the tower needs to be.

With a wind generator,  the wind energy is being converted to electricity, so you can run your electrical appliances. If you don’t need all the power generated right away, it can be stored for a later use. This alone makes a windmill a lot more efficient than conventional power.
